Quail corners animal hospital2/3/2024 We spent about 5 hours here total for a couple tests with no conclusion as to the issue. My dog wasn't feeling well after hours and so I took her here. I've had two very different experiences here and both have been so-so.Experience 1 was for an emergency. I will NEVER go back to Quail Corners Animal Hospital and strongly suggest that you avoid that place like the plague! Read LessĪs someone who is still looking for a great vet after moving to this area, I'd say I'm not sure I've found it here. (Wish I had known about them earlier!) I specifically asked that Vet about his heart and she said it was normal. I then took my dog to Complete Pet Care Animal Hospital where they do a FREE first visit and all I had to pay for were the shots he needed. I have never had such an awful experience with a so-called "professional" in my life. She then told me to go elsewhere and stormed out of the exam room. She accused me of disrespecting her professional status and showed absolutely no understanding or sympathy for my situation. I said that it was outrageous to charge me for a full exam again when he just had a full exam a month ago and I was only asking her to do one simple thing that would take maybe 20 seconds. Then things got ugly. She insisted he would have to have a full exam in order for her to listen to his heart. I asked her if she could reduce the exam fee because all I wanted her to do was listen to his heart and hopefully hear that it was now normal. She said she would have to charge me another $67 for an exam in addition to the $118 for the shots!I told her that seemed very unfair to me, because I wanted to buy pet health insurance and if a heart murmur was on his record, it would be deemed a pre-existing condition and would not be covered by insurance later if he did develop a heart problem. I asked her to please listen to his heart again because I believed that his heart was just fine, and whatever she heard before might have been caused by him being anxious. This was upsetting because it was never explained to me when I paid, but I took him back and saw the same doctor. I was told at that visit that he would receive the shots I requested and I figured they had given him the shots when he was out of the exam room-not so. When I called up to question this, they said that the previous charges did NOT include his shots because they didn't get his records from the previous vet until after we left the office the day of his exam. Sounded fishy to me.The charge for this visit was already costing $350 and I declined this dubious add-on.A few weeks later I get a card in the mail from the practice saying my boy was overdue for his annual shots. It would cost $450 and he'd need to take it for the rest of his life if I wanted him to live as long as possible. She then spent quite a while trying to convince me that he needed medication right away for this heart condition. I told her that his previous Vet never detected anything like that. Then the Vet examined him on the table and said she heard a heart murmur. I chalked that up to the fact that clearing out his bowels was probably an uncomfortable procedure. They took him away for quite a while and when the Vet brought him back, I could tell that he was upset and anxious. I also asked that they update his shots and give me refills for his flea/tick prevention and heart worm meds. I asked them to do his annual wellness exam in addition to treating the constipation. My dog was listless and uncomfortable with constipation after we moved to Raleigh so I took him to nearby Quail Corners Animal Hospital.
